ONE BILLION RISING - raise awareness - February 14, 2021

ONE BILLION RISING - began as a call to action based on the staggering statistic that -1 in 3 women across the planet will be beaten or raped during her lifetime. That’s ONE BILLION WOMEN AND GIRLS.

The objective of this years event is to raise awareness for this extremely important cause. This year on, February 14, 2021, as part pf a mass action to end violence against women residents in Second Life will join activists, writers, thinkers, and people across the grid to rise, resist and unite as a show of unity, individual strength, and the need for change. This Second Life event will feature a four-region stage where 200 people can come together to dance, surrounded by an area of art, poetry, dramatic productions, and informational exhibits.

This years theme will be – Rising Gardens. One Billion Rising campaigns have brought the issues of poverty, the environment, economic violence and other factors that cause and sustain the continuing violence towards women and girls into focus.

There will be info kiosks around, the main stage and in the center of the sims, and don't forget to check the gift areas with gifts from the sponsors.

Come and RISE through dance to express joy and community and celebrate the fact that we have not been defeated by this violence. Let's rise to show we are determined to create a new kind of consciousness – one where violence will be resisted until it is unthinkable!

We can use our some of our time in SL to raise consciousness and inspire others to
 act.
